Cami is 2!

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the adorable Little Miss Cami who just turned 2! We had a FUN time taking her pictures.Even though it was cold outside we got some super sweet images.I am use to photographing boys so it’s a nice change to experience having a tea party with Minnie Mouse instead of knocking down legos with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Whenever I photograph young children, I try and let the parents know it’s ok if they don’t smile and say cheese or look right at the camera. Why? Well,by because having a nephew who is 2, I realized early on that it’s more about capturing his expressions and not getting him to say cheese. It’s capturing the giggles and seeing him play with his favorite toys. I refer to these images as lifestyle images; children are going to do what they want to do. Period. Personally, I like these images better because it’s the child at play and it showcases their unique personalities. Children are like little sponges just soaking up each new experience around them. Typically, boys will always want to pick up sticks and rocks outside and fling them around. It’s a given! Girls will have their baby doll or special blanket in tote. It’s these tender moments I want to capture for my clients. Seeing a child interact with their surroundings and watching them grow in front of my lens is something special.

Children grow up so quickly and not every moment is going to be a smile or a giggle. That’s why it’s important to just sit back and watch them do what they do best; play and be children. Capturing theses Images in Play is why I love what I do.
